K-5 Grade Motown ABC song Music Lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

Today I will be introducing a
MOTOWN song called
"ABC"
by the Jackson 5
This picture shows
Michael Jackson in the middle,
and his 4 brothers.

They were called the "Jackson 5"
because their last name was Jackson
and there was 5 of them. LOL
Now this is your cue to...
What is MOTOWN?
Motown is a Record Corporation,
where they produced records from accomplished singers,
like the Jackson 5.
MOTOWN music started in April of 1960.
They had 79 records made that were in the top ten
between 1960 and 1969.

Now, Back to the Jackson 5 and,
their "ABC" song from the Book of Love.

Here they are singing the song, when they were younger.

Now here is the Jackson 5 a little older
doing a "ABC" Television clip
from off of the "Carol Burnett Show"

You can watch the full episode at home later,
if you want.

Now it's time to watch a fun
MODERN "ABC" song
in another school setting.
Try to sing along and have fun.

I'll have to do a video of me teaching you
how to do some fun clapping rhythm
to this video sometime soon.

OKAY,
Let us see if you can try to sign ,with your hands
using American Sign Language
to some of the lyrics from the "ABC" song:

Let's start with A,B, and C

Good Job!
Now let's do the numbers 1,2,3

That was great!

Do you remember the "DO, RE, MI" song
 from the Sound of Music,
where Julie Andrews taught the kids how to learn to sing?

Now let's practice DO, RE, and MI
to sing with the A,B,C song

Okay, time to put them together in the song.

Oh, Wait, I forgot the part of the song that says
"Like "I" before "E", except after "C"
and 2 + 2 is 4"

Here are those hand signs:

LIKE
BEFORE

EXCEPT AFTER

AND
PLUS

IS

ALRIGHT, NOW IT'S TIME
TO PUT IT TOGETHER IN THE SONG

Here are the lyrics to practice
with my tip to not sing the word "Girl"
to make the song apply for everyone to sing.

YOU
WENT TO SCHOOL TO LEARN
THINGS YOU NEVER NEVER KNEW BEFORE
LIKE
BEFORE

EXCEPT AFTER

AND
PLUS

IS

NOW, NOW, NOW

I'M A GONNA TEACH YOU

ALL ABOUT LOVE

SIT YOURSELF DOWN
AND TAKE A SEAT

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO
IS REPEAT AFTER ME

IS EASY AS

ARE SIMPLE AS

YOU
AND
ME

GOOD JOB

The next part of this lesson is geared
for the 3rd Graders,
HOWEVER, I'm going to be nice and
let K through 5 do this lesson
at the beginning of every school year.

THIS IS WHERE WE WILL NOW GO TO THE
"MOTOWN" cartoon series
located on "NETFLIX",
After you watch the video
showing the boy who is really singing
the "ABC" song for the theme song
to the MOTOWN cartoon song
on "NETFLIX".
LOL. (That was a mouthful of words, right there.)

Here you can have fun watching the "ABC" theme song
to the MOTOWN series.
Don't forget to...
Try to practice your hand signs I just taught you.

Now you can go watch the very first episode
to the MOTOWN cartoon series on Netflix.
Just type, "MOTOWN", when you get there.

Sincerely,
 Mrs. Carol Louise Moore
