2-5 Grade B for Blues Music Lesson Plan by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore


Today in music,
we will be learning about the letter "B"
for the BLUES 

And, yes, the BLUES is a type of music
that can be considered 
rich in musical expression:
like happy, sad, angry, moody, mysterious, etc.

Okay the following video is really for
my 4th and 5th grade students
who will be learning all about Elvis.
Here is Elvis singing "The Beach Boy BLUES"
from the movie "Blue Hawaii"
(Only one of my all time favorite movies)


WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Do you have a favorite BLUES song?

Here is an example of what BLUES music sounds like 
when it is sung in the BLUES style to help the 
older kids learn about pronouns

Just watch the first part to see the song.
Kids can watch the whole show at home, if they want.

1-5 Grade Music Letter B for Banjo Lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore



Remember there are only 7 letters in the Music Alphabet,
and those letters are:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
There are no letters after G. 
In other words, there is no H, I, J, K, L, M, N...and so on.

Now hold up one hand 

The number of lines in music is 
how many fingers you have on one hand.
Count the fingers on one hand.
How many fingers did you count?

The number of spaces in music is 
how many spaces there are in between the fingers.
Now count the spaces between your fingers.
How many spaces are in between the fingers?
So...
How many lines are there in music?
How many spaces are there in music?

Did you know that the lines and spaces
you see in music are called the "STAFF"?

What is the name of the music symbol below?
Treble Clef 

Treble Clef notes are your high sounding notes.
The note below on the "STAFF" after the Treble Clef
 is the letter "B"

The note "B" lands on a line and would be called a

line note. 

Now to help you to remember 
the Treble Clef letter names 
to the notes that land on a line, 
Think...
Every Good Boy Does Fine

for Every is on the bottom 1st line
for Good is on the 2nd line 
for Boy is on the 3rd line
for Does is on the 4th line
F for Fine is on the 5th line
What line is the letter "B" on?

the letter "B" looks like this.

The music instruments that
start with the
letter "B" are:
The BANJO
The BANJO is a string instrument
and belongs to the STRING family.

The music they are playing
is called "BLUEGRASS"


Another string instrument 
from the STRING family
that starts with the letter "B" 
is called the

She is playing a Russian Folk Song 
called "Valenki" 
(Valenki are warm Russian boots made of felt)

I think she sounds absolutely amazing.

The BASSOON is a woodwind instrument,
and it belongs to the WOODWIND family

3rd Grade Motown Mickey's Monkey Music Lesson with Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

This week's lesson for the 3rd graders is 
another Motown song called
"Mickey's Monkey" 

Before we watch this song  in the Netflix Motown Magic series.
we will be reviewing the music Joke 
You are under a "REST"

We will now watch 
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles sing
"Mickey's Monkey"
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles are known
as a RHYTHM and BLUES group
who were recorded singing this song
for the MOTOWN Record Corporation.
Thus why the song "Mickey's Monkey"
is considered a Motown song.


From the years 1961 until 1971,
Motown had around 119 songs that 
were in the top 10 hits list.

Okay, now it is time to watch the 
"Mickey's Monkey" episode
on the Netflix Series called "Motown Magic"
In Season One.

K-5 Grade Music Joke You are under a REST Music Lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

TIME FOR ANOTHER...
C Moore Kid Songs Joke Day
To help chase the "BLUES" away.
Now, when we talk about
chasing the BLUES away
It is saying we feel a little sad,
when we are feeling BLUE.
Another definition for the BLUES
is a type of music style

Okay, Get ready to laugh, 
or at least you better laugh. 
Just kidding.


Instead of  having a policeman tell you 
that you are under arrest 
because you broke the law, 
the policeman is telling you that you are 
standing under the music symbol 
called a "REST"
Get it,
ARREST versus A "REST"
Now this isn't just any Rest. 
This is a 
When you see the quarter rest, you are are quiet,
like you are taking a rest. 

The quarter rest replaces the
When you see the quarter note, you will clap for one beat.

2nd Grade Beatles Song It Won't Be Long Music Lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

Today's music lesson for the 2nd Graders is the 
"It Won't Be Long" song by the Beatles

Before we learn, we will  now click on:

"A" in Accordion.


Below is more about the the Beatles song, before we watch 
the BeatBugs sing the song in Season 2.

who were members of the 
Rock Band from England called the BEATLES



Now let us watch and listen to the Beatles perform "It Won't Be Long", 
when they were younger and televisions were only in black and white.

We will now watch the BEATBUGS Series on Netflix
in Season 2 with the episode "It Won't Be Long"
Almost all of the episodes on Beatbugs are from the BEATLES.
The Beatbugs are little cartoon Beatles who represent
