you will need to know what the word
HUM means.

When one HUMs,
they close there mouth and
basically sing there favorite song
without moving their lips
and trying to say the words.

This is called HUMming.

What is your favorite song to HUM to?

25 Fun Facts About Hummingbirds
Study: Hummingbirds migrating earlier in spring

HUMming birds do not HUM
with their mouths like we do.

The HUMming noise they make
comes from their wings
because the wings go so fast
that they HUM.

1-5 Grade Music Letter F for Flute lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

Before we learn about the letter "F" in music,

Remember there are only 7 letters in the Music Alphabet,
and those letters are:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G
There are no letters after G.
In other words, there is no H, I, J, K, L, M...and so on.

Now hold up one hand

The number of lines in music is
how many fingers you have on one hand.
Count the fingers on one hand.
How many fingers did you count?

The number of spaces in music is
how many spaces there are in between the fingers.
Now count the spaces between your fingers.
How many spaces are in between the fingers?
So...
How many lines are there in music?
How many spaces are there in music?

Did you know that the lines and spaces
you see in music are called the "STAFF"?

What is the name of the music symbol below?
Treble Clef

Treble Clef notes are your high sounding notes.
The note below on the "STAFF" after the Treble Clef
 is the letter "F"

The note "F" lands on a space and would be called a

space note.

To understand the letter names
to the notes on the spaces
after the Treble Clef on the Staff:
Just remember "FACE" is on the SPACE
F in FACE is on the bottom 1st space
in FACE is on the 2nd space
C in FACE is on the 3rd space
E in FACE is on the 4th space
What space is the letter "F" on?

Below on the Staff, after the Treble Clef
is the F FLAT major scale "OCTAVE"
because it starts on the letter "F"
and ends on the letter "F"

In the F FLAT Major scale,
there is only 1 FLAT:
and that FLAT is the B FLAT

REMEMBER
FLAT  is a music symbol and
it looks like this.

Whenever you see a FLAT in music
you will go down one step,
or
you will play the very next note going down.

Do you remember what
this music symbol is?
Whenever you see a SHARP in music
you will go up one step, Free Up Arrow Cliparts, Download Free Clip Art, Free Clip Art on ...

SHARPS always go up,
and FLATS always go down.

In American Sign Language,
the letter "F" looks like this.

Show me the letter "F" on one hand

The music instrument that
starts with the
letter "F" is a:

 FLUTE

This is a picture of a
FLUTE
This FLUTE is the instrument I learned to play,
when I was in 5th grade.
Here is a video of me playing the song
"Zippa Dee Doo Dah"

Why don't you try to singalong
to the song, while I play the FLUTE?

The next song I like to play
on the FLUTE
is the
"Pink Panther"

DID YOU KNOW THAT...
There are other kinds of FLUTE
in the FLUTE family
like the Chinese Bamboo FLUTE
The video below is great because
you get to listen to the beautiful sounds,
while learning about the
Chinese Bamboo FLUTE

Here is an idea of the different kinds of FLUTEs
in the FLUTE Family.
We will be learning more about the
WOODWIND FAMILY
in another lesson

The RECORDER is also considered a FLUTE
in the FLUTE family.
Let us now learn to play the music notes
"B" and "A"
on the RECORDER FLUTE

1-5 Grade Music Joke C Sharp or B Flat lesson by Mrs. Carol Louise Moore

TIME FOR ANOTHER...

What this music joke is saying
is if you do not watch
where you are going
by seeing SHARP
when walking on SLIPPERY ice,
You will find yourself
falling FLAT on the ground.

In order to best understand
this music joke,
you will need to understand
what the music symbols
SHARP and FLAT mean.

FLAT  is a music symbol and
it looks like this.

Whenever you see a FLAT in music
you will go down one step,
or
you will play the very next note going down.

SHARP  is a music symbol and

it looks like this.
Whenever you see a SHARP in music
you will go up one step, Free Up Arrow Cliparts, Download Free Clip Art, Free Clip Art on ...
or
you will play the very next note going up.

What is the difference between a
SHARP and a FLAT?
56 [FREE] REDDIT MUSIC NOTE SYMBOL PRINTABLE HD PDF DOWNLOAD ZIP DOCX
SHARPS always go up,
and FLATS always go down.

Now, let us go back to the music joke.
Instead of saying SEE SHARP,
We are replacing the word SEE,
like to see out of our eyes,
with the music letter "C".

So, with the SHARP after the note "C",
you will play the very next note up
to make it a C SHARP.

because SHARPs go up

And, instead of saying Be FLAT,
we are replacing the word BE
with the music letter "B".

So, with the FLAT after the note "B"
you will play the very next note down
to make it a B FLAT
because FLATs go down

SO

I don't care what you say,
That is what I call a Funny Musical Joke.
So, you better be laughing.
Or you can at least smile.
I bet you that I got you to...
SMILE

 Mrs. Carol Louise Moore
